Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Concentrated growth factors from your own blood — delivered directly into the skin or scalp to accelerate healing, stimulate new cell growth, and restore tone and elasticity.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) harnesses the regenerative power already present in your blood. Platelets are the body's first responders to injury — they release a cascade of growth factors that signal surrounding cells to repair, regenerate, and rebuild. PRP concentrates these platelets and delivers them precisely where regeneration is needed.
The process begins with a small blood draw. Your blood is centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich plasma from red blood cells. The resulting concentrate — containing 3–5 times the normal platelet concentration — is then injected into the treatment area or applied topically during microneedling.
PRP is one of the most studied regenerative treatments in medicine, with applications in orthopedics, wound healing, and aesthetics. At HydraSpa, we use PRP for facial rejuvenation, skin quality improvement, and as a powerful complement to microneedling for enhanced collagen induction.
Concentrated healing at the cellular level
- Platelet Concentration
- Centrifugation separates whole blood into its components. The platelet-rich plasma layer — containing 3–5× the normal platelet concentration — is extracted and prepared for injection. Higher platelet concentration means a more potent growth factor signal.
- Growth Factor Cascade
- When activated, platelets release PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, EGF, FGF, and IGF — a cascade of growth factors that stimulate fibroblast activity, collagen synthesis, angiogenesis, and cellular proliferation. The result is accelerated tissue repair and regeneration.
- Microneedling Synergy
- When combined with microneedling, PRP is applied topically immediately after the micro-channels are created. The channels allow PRP to penetrate deeply into the dermis, amplifying the collagen induction response and accelerating healing. The combination produces results significantly greater than either treatment alone.
- Scalp Application
- For hair restoration, PRP is injected directly into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles. Growth factors stimulate dormant follicles, increase blood supply to the scalp, and extend the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle — resulting in increased density and reduced shedding.

- Patients experiencing hair thinning or early-stage hair loss
- Anyone who prefers a fully biological, additive-free treatment
- Those looking to accelerate healing after aesthetic procedures
- Patients seeking a natural complement to other regenerative protocols
Common questions
- What is the difference between PRP and PRF?
- PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a liquid concentrate prepared at higher centrifuge speeds, delivering growth factors quickly at the injection site. PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is prepared at lower speeds, forming a fibrin matrix that releases growth factors slowly over 7–14 days. PRF retains more stem cells and produces a more sustained regenerative response; PRP delivers a faster, more immediate growth factor signal. Both are effective — the right choice depends on your treatment goals.
- How is PRP combined with microneedling?
- After microneedling creates micro-channels in the skin, PRP is applied topically and massaged into the treatment area. The channels allow PRP to penetrate deeply into the dermis — far beyond what topical application alone could achieve. The combination amplifies collagen induction, accelerates healing, and produces results significantly greater than microneedling alone.
- How many PRP sessions will I need?
- For skin rejuvenation, a series of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typically recommended, followed by maintenance every 6–12 months. For hair restoration, 3–4 initial sessions are standard, with quarterly maintenance thereafter. Your clinician will design a protocol based on your specific goals.
- Is there downtime after PRP?
- Downtime depends on the application. PRP injections alone typically cause mild redness and swelling for 24–48 hours. When combined with microneedling, expect 2–4 days of redness and mild peeling. Most patients return to normal activities within 24 hours of PRP-only treatment.
- How long do PRP results last?
- Skin quality improvements from PRP typically last 6–12 months. Hair restoration results vary — most patients see continued improvement for 6–12 months after a treatment series, with maintenance sessions recommended every 3–6 months to sustain results.
- Can PRP be combined with filler or Botox?
- Yes — PRP is highly complementary to both. PRP addresses skin quality and cellular regeneration; filler restores volume; Botox relaxes dynamic lines. They work on different layers and mechanisms and can be combined in a comprehensive rejuvenation protocol. Your clinician will recommend appropriate sequencing.
